The Electrical engineer – mobile equipment as part of the Maintenance department reports to the Head Mechanical engineer for mobile equipment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The Electrical engineer – mobile equipment as part of the Maintenance department will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Following and acting in accordance with the policies, procedures and requirements from the corporate level

  • Following and participating in the implementation of international standards in accordance with requirements and decisions at the corporate level

  • Following legal and best practice requirements in the field of maintenance and engineering and acting exclusively in accordance with them

  • Conduct electrical and electronic system maintenance, repairs, servicing and installations on mining equipment and components

  • Carry out fault finding and trouble shoot breakdowns on electrical and electronic systems and components

  • Supervise, as required, a small team of maintenance technicians ( maximum of 5 people ) working on mobile mining equipment

  • Assist with the development and implementation of safety standards and actively promote adherence to the mine safety standards

  • Assist the mechanical team members with maintenance activities as and when required

  • Directly oversee and monitor electrical work standards, methods and procedures

  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with the key stakeholders

  • Advise on the spares and materials requirements for the maintenance department

  • Liaise and interact with the maintenance planning team and warehouse personnel for the acquisition and management of spare parts and materials

  • Be responsible for the efficient management of electrical and electronic spares parts, materials and tools for mobile equipment at the mine

  • Liaise and interact with service providers, equipment and spares vendors for the acquisition, realisation and management of services, equipment, spare parts and materials

  • Actively work toward reducing costs, minimizing waste and promoting efficiency in the maintenance department

  • Identifies maintenance and engineering risks and manages or escalates them as appropriate

  • Assist with the development, implementation and upkeep of SOP’s ( Safe Operating procedures )

  • Actively contribute to the formation of maintenance plans and schedules

  • Participation in maintenance and production meetings as required at the SASA mine

  • Contribute to the development of maintenance strategies, guidelines, instructions and procedures for maintenance and inspection activities

  • Participate in and conduct training for maintenance processes, procedures and practices as required

  • Preparation of reports for the maintenance department as required

  • Meeting the general requirements of ISO 14001 standard, its operation, maintenance and continuous improvement

  • To respect the Sustainability Policy of Central Asia Metals (CAML) and its subsidiaries

  • In the absence of the Head Mechanical engineer for mobile equipment, may be required to assume their accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Performs other activities within their professional training – qualifications and skill set as required by order of the Maintenance Manager, work tasks in the interest of safety and production, including work tasks arising from the requirements at the corporate level

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • BSc – in Electrical      or Electronic engineering is essential

  • Minimum of 3 years      work experience in the field of electrical, electronic and / or control      systems maintenance

  • Supervisory      experience is highly desirable

  • Information      technology, software or instrumentation qualifications would be highly      regarded

  • Experience with      low voltage electrical control systems and PLC programming and fault      finding is highly desirable

  • High level of computer      literacy – excellent skills in the Microsoft Office suite of programs      (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), AutoCAD and other related programs

  • Previous experience with modern mobile industrial equipment is highly desirable

  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact at all levels with the mine, maintenance and management teams

  • Previous work experience in mining or other heavy industries is highly regarded

  • Previous work experience in an underground mine is desirable

  • Strong planning and execution skills

  • English language skills are desirable
